Kidnappers of 26 women from Allawa Community in Niger State have released a video featuring two captives, pleading with their families to provide 130 motorcycles for their release. The women, tied to a tree, beg their relatives to deliver the demanded items, saying, “They cannot release me until the items they demanded are delivered… For the sake of Allah and His Prophet, help bring the items.”
Abba Usman, a resident, confirmed the women in the video are among those kidnapped in February. He reported that the families of the two women had provided six motorcycles, but the kidnappers now demand four more. The families of the remaining 24 women cannot afford the additional motorcycles, with each priced at N2 million.
The Gbenu Boknu Yakwo Association has called for the removal of the Commissioner for Homeland Security, Brigadier General Bello Abdullahi (RTD), over his alleged failure to address the worsening security situation. The association criticized the commissioner’s statement that normalcy has returned to Allawa, saying it “mockingly disregards the suffering of residents who have been displaced from their ancestral lands due to banditry and terrorism.”
The association urges the governor to take decisive action to eliminate the terrorists and enable the displaced residents to return home.
