Taraba Monarch Blames Benue Hoodlums for Community Violence

The traditional ruler of Takum local government council in Taraba State, Sopiya Ahmadu Gboshi III, has linked criminal activities in the area to hoodlums from neighbouring Katsina-Ala local government council in Benue State.

In a statement on Wednesday in Jalingo, the monarch addressed the recent killings in the area, urging the people to remain calm and avoid retaliatory actions. He assured the public that the government and relevant stakeholders are working to identify and apprehend those responsible for the violence.

The monarch reaffirmed his commitment to collaborating with the state government and security agencies to end the violence, emphasizing the importance of avoiding any form of retaliation. He expressed concern over the killings, describing them as part of a malicious agenda by some evil individuals.

The appeal follows the tragic incident on Monday morning, where six passengers traveling along the Takum-Wukari road were brutally murdered by unidentified gunmen. A traditional ruler and his son were also recently killed by unknown gunmen in the council.

The monarch called on the government to intensify security operations and increase deployments to counter the growing boldness of the attackers in Taraba, tasking the people to report any suspicious activities or individuals to the authorities for immediate action.
