The National Judicial Council, led by Justice Olukayode Ariwoola, nominated Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun as Chief Justice of Nigeria, to be appointed by President Bola Tinubu. Justice Ariwoola’s term ends on August 22, 2024.
The Council also nominated 27 candidates for State Courts judgeships and one for Kadi of the FCT Sharia Court.
These nominations were made at the Council’s 106th Meeting. The recommended candidates will be appointed by their respective State Governors and the President.
The Council’s recommendations pave the way for new leadership in the judiciary. The appointments will take effect following the expiration of Justice Ariwoola’s term.
