Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has praised the resourcefulness and resilience of the state’s youths, describing them as the driving force and bedrock of building the present and future of the state. He made this statement while addressing the 2024 International Youth Day.
Recognizing that youths constitute over sixty percent of the state’s population, Governor Alia outlined his administration’s efforts to create an enabling environment for transformation in various sectors, including education, entrepreneurship, sports, and technology.
Some initiatives aimed at promoting youth empowerment include:
– Training 10,000 youths in Information and Communication Technology in partnership with Google
– The United Nations Volunteer Scheme
– Rehabilitation of the Aper Aku stadium to promote local and international sporting activities
– Establishment of an international fashion hub to encourage creativity and provide job opportunities
Governor Alia urged the youths to take advantage of these opportunities for long-term growth. He also commended them for not participating in the End Bad Governance national protest but cautioned against social vices like cultism, cybercrime, drug abuse, and other forms of insecurity.
The governor’s message emphasizes the importance of empowering youths to drive positive change and build a brighter future for Benue State.
