The Prayer and Support for the Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies (PSNASA), a civic group, has paid a heartfelt tribute to the late Nigerian Navy officer, Lt Commander Gideon Yashim Gwaza, who lost his life while rescuing a vessel in distress.
Gwaza’s selfless act of bravery has been hailed as a shining example of the unwavering dedication of naval personnel and security agents who risk their lives daily to protect others. During a daring rescue operation, he led a team to save 59 people on board MV AMBIKA 4, a dredging vessel on the verge of sinking at Okpobo field in the Niger Delta.
Despite treacherous conditions, Gwaza ensured the safety of all on board, but tragically lost his own life in the process. His heroic actions will never be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire others.
PSNASA has appealed to Nigerians to come together and show appreciation for the selfless sacrifices of security agents like Gwaza, emphasizing the need for collective support and recognition of their bravery and dedication. The group extended heartfelt condolences to Gwaza’s family and commiserated with the Nigerian Navy over the loss of one of its gallant officers.
