Gunmen suspected to be bandits have launched a deadly attack on a mission station in Katul Crossing, Fadan Kamantra area of Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, killing Pastor Peter Shebayan and one other person. The attack, which occurred on the night of Sunday, August 11, also resulted in the abduction of eight residents.
In a related incident, bandits attacked the Ruruma community in Kwassam, Kauru Local Government Area, killing Dr. Ishaya and abducting eight others. The attack occurred in the early hours of Monday, August 12.
The abducted victims have been identified as Dan’iya Barau, Bitrust Dan’iya, Esther Magada, Buba Mu’azu Tanko, Philip, Joshua Cyrus, Bege Ezekiel, and Joffrey Ezekiel. One of the victims managed to escape and return home.
The bandits also stole several items, including six motorcycles and 25 liters of fuel. Efforts to reach the Kaduna State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mansir Hassan, for confirmation were unsuccessful.
The attacks have raised concerns about the escalating insecurity in Kaduna State, with residents calling for increased security measures to protect lives and property.
