The Nigeria Police Force has issued a statement to set the record straight regarding an alleged raid on the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) National Secretariat, also known as the Labour House, in Abuja.
The Police clarified that the operation was aimed at apprehending a prime criminal suspect, a foreign national implicated in numerous criminal activities across Nigeria and other African countries. The suspect was traced to a shop within the building, which was rented as a front for his criminal activities.
The Police emphasized that the operation had no connection with the NLC, its Secretariat, staff, or leadership. The NLC Secretariat was not the focus of the operation, and the Police sought to assure the cooperation and support of the NLC leadership in the ongoing investigation.
The Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, stated that the Police remain committed to upholding the rule of law, maintaining professionalism, and respecting human rights in the discharge of their statutory duties. He also urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and conduct security profiling of individuals seeking to rent space within their premises.
