A national prayer session scheduled for August 10 in Kano State has been cancelled due to security concerns and fears of potential hijacking by protesters.
The event, aimed at fostering peace and stability, was cancelled after intelligence reports from security officials warned of potential threats from “evil forces” seeking to infiltrate the gathering and incite chaos.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police and the Director of the Department of State Services (DSS) alerted organizers to potential threats from miscreants who might exploit the peaceful gathering for their advantage, leading to looting, shoplifting, and other disturbances.
The Coordinator of the National Prayer, Mubarak Ibrahim Lawan, urged the public to remain cautious and continue praying from their local mosques. He emphasized that collective prayers can contribute to peace and stability in Nigeria, despite the cancellation of the national prayer session.
