The Edo State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the suspicious death of Fidelis Osaghae, an employee of Valchi Fast Food and Bar in Auchi. Osaghae died on July 29, 2024, under questionable circumstances after allegedly being summoned by his employer, Valentine Oyemike.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Joel, confirmed that the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department’s homicide section for a comprehensive investigation.
The deceased’s wife, Esther, has called for an investigation into her husband’s death, alleging that he was summoned by his employer in the early hours of the morning and later found dead in his employer’s car at a hospital.
A petition filed by the Akin Fadeyi Foundation alleged that the local police division in Auchi has shown a lack of willingness to investigate the matter thoroughly and has already exonerated Valentine, who is reportedly an influential person in the area.
The police have assured that the outcome of the investigation will be made public as soon as it is concluded.
