Authorities have taken into custody Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, the African Action Congress (AAC) gubernatorial candidate for Ondo State in 2024, and Patrick Owolabi, an activist with the Take It Back (TIB) Movement. The arrests transpired during the culmination of the #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protest in Akure, Ondo State.
The TIB Movement has strongly denounced the police’s actions, calling for the prompt and unconditional liberation of Ajayi and Owolabi. In a Twitter post, TIB stated: “It’s regrettable that @PoliceNG has not learned from past experiences. The ongoing suppression of peaceful #EndBadGovernanceInNigeria protesters is deplorable. We denounce the unlawful detention of Ajayi Wizeman and Patrick Owolabi in Ondo state and demand their immediate release!”
