In a bid to curb illegal levies and extortion, the Otukpo Taskforce Coordinator, Comrade Oogwu Stephen, has dislodged two illegal checkpoints on the Otukpo-Enugu federal highway in Otukpo Local Government Area. This brings the total number of dismantled checkpoints to three within a month.
The taskforce, constituted by the Benue State government, aims to checkmate illegal activities and criminality in the area. Traders and commuters have expressed relief, promising to cooperate with the taskforce by reporting any suspicious activities.
The taskforce has also embarked on a sensitization campaign, educating residents on the dangers of illegal levies and the public order law enacted by the 10th Benue State House of Assembly. Market traders and residents have expressed support for the Alia-led administration’s efforts to tackle illegal levies and promote service delivery.
