Professor Daniel Olukoya, the General Overseer of the Mountain of Fire and Miracles (MFM), has initiated the construction of a microbiology laboratory for the Federal University of Technology Akure’s (FUTA) School of Life Sciences. This project aims to enhance the learning experience of students.
During the site handover ceremony on August 5, 2024, Pastor Adeniyi Adebayo, Regional Overseer of MFM’s Southwest 4 region, Akure, stated:
“Professor Olukoya is passionate about education. His legacy is all about impacting the younger generation. He is always impressed with brilliance and intelligent young people and will go any length to support them academically.”
Pastor Adebayo highlighted that Professor Olukoya’s philanthropic efforts extend to Mountaintop University, where academically excelling students receive scholarships. He expressed optimism that the laboratory project will leave a lasting impact on FUTA students and assured that the project will be completed within the stipulated timeframe.
Vice Chancellor Professor Adenike Oladiji expressed gratitude for the donation, describing it as “magnanimous and worthy of emulation.” She noted that Professor Olukoya’s accessibility and willingness to invest in his area of specialization made the donation possible. Professor Oladiji emphasized that this gesture marks the beginning of a partnership between FUTA and MFM.
She encouraged other individuals and organizations to emulate Professor Olukoya’s generosity, stating, “FUTA is open to any donation that will enhance teaching, learning, and community development.” Professor Oladiji highlighted the significance of private sector support for education in Nigeria, appreciating MFM’s commitment to completing the project.
Engr Folorunsho Boyinbode, Director of the Directorate of Physical Planning, described the laboratory’s design, which includes a bungalow building with various facilities. He assured that the project will be executed promptly and with due diligence, benefiting the university community and society at large.
The construction of the microbiology laboratory demonstrates Professor Olukoya’s dedication to education and his commitment to supporting academic excellence. As Pastor Adebayo said, “This project is his way of extending a hand of fellowship to FUTA.”
