The Taraba State Police Command has arrested a woman for allegedly burning her step-grandson’s lip with a hot knife in Wukari Local Government Area. Chinecherim Julius was brutally assaulted by his grandfather’s wife, leaving him with severe injuries.
Confirming the arrest, Ibrahim Audu Angyu, Senior Assistant on Media and Publicity, said, “It is beyond comprehension how a person can harm a child in such a brutal manner.” Angyu condemned the act, stating it was “gruesome and inexcusable” and should be condemned in the strongest possible terms.
The woman allegedly cut off the boy’s lips with a hot knife. Angyu praised the Executive Chairman of Wukari Local Government Council, Hon Dauda Agbu Samaila, for ordering the arrest, saying, “This shows that no one is above the law, and justice must prevail no matter the circumstances.”
Angyu commended the chairman’s intervention in ensuring Chinecherim received medical care and the perpetrator was brought to justice, setting a strong example for others in authority. He emphasized, “The safety and well-being of children should be a top priority for all members of society, and it is our collective responsibility to protect them from harm.”
Angyu stressed that acts of violence against children cannot be tolerated or brushed aside, saying, “We must all work together to create a safe and loving environment for all children to thrive and grow.” The arrest and condemnation of the woman’s actions demonstrate a commitment to holding perpetrators accountable and protecting vulnerable children.
