Nollywood actor and former Labour Party presidential campaign council spokesman, Kenneth Okonkwo, has announced his departure from the opposition party. In a statement on Sunday, Okonkwo expressed his disappointment with Peter Obi’s failure to address the party’s internal crisis and disassociate himself from the alleged criminal activities of the former National Working Committee (NWC) led by Barrister Julius Abure.
Okonkwo stated that he is committed to a great Nigeria built on equity, justice, and fairness, but believes that the APC and PDP, as currently constituted, are incapable of leading the country to greatness. He emphasized the need for a solid political party with a grassroots base to wrestle power from the current leadership.
Okonkwo also announced his separation from Peter Obi, citing his disappointment with the former presidential candidate’s inaction on the party’s internal crisis. He expressed his determination to chart a new course for his political journey, seeking a leader with integrity, charisma, and bravery to mobilize the people and secure victory.
The actor’s departure from the Labour Party comes as a significant blow to the opposition party, which has been grappling with internal conflicts and leadership crises. Okonkwo’s statement highlights the need for a united and strong opposition to challenge the current leadership and bring about positive change in Nigeria.
