The Federal Government has announced plans to partner with Sinoma International Engineering Company, a China-based firm, to localize the production of renewable energy technologies in Nigeria. This development emerged from a meeting between Nigeria’s Special Presidential Envoy on Climate Action, Ajuri Ngelale, and Sinoma’s Executive Management at their Beijing headquarters.
The discussion focused on the importance of localizing production to reduce reliance on imports and boost economic growth. The meeting covered areas such as decarbonization of mining practices, ecological support, and restoration.
Ngelale praised Sinoma’s expertise in decarbonization, ecological restoration, and automation of manufacturing processes for carbon capture and storage, wind blades, and other technologies. This partnership aims to promote Nigeria’s transition to renewable energy sources and reduce its carbon footprint.
