Benue State Governor, Hyacinth Alia, held a crucial meeting with the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, to discuss strategies for stimulating economic growth and development in the state.
The meeting built on the existing partnership between the state and the CBN, which has already yielded positive results, including the provision of 60 trailer loads of fertilizer to support agricultural production in Benue State.
During the meeting, Governor Alia requested additional support from the CBN in key areas, including:
1. Statistical systems development
2. Employment generation
3. Foreign exchange management
4. Agricultural development
The state government aims to leverage these support systems to contribute significantly to Nigeria’s economy through:
1. Sesame seed export
2. Mining activities
These initiatives are expected to create jobs, ensure food security, and boost the state’s economic prospects.
The meeting underscores the collaborative efforts between the Benue State government and the CBN to drive economic growth and development in the region.
