Governor Revd. Fr. Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has appointed Air Commodore Jacob Akaa Gbamwuan (Rtd) as the Director General of the newly established Bureau of Homeland Security. Gbamwuan, a seasoned security expert, brings a wealth of experience from his meritorious service in the Nigerian military and community service. He holds degrees from prestigious institutions, including the Nigerian Defence Academy and Ahmadu Bello University, and specializes in Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice.
The establishment of the Bureau of Homeland Security, which will operate directly under the Governor’s office, was announced during the last Benue State Security Council meeting. Governor Alia has charged Gbamwuan to prioritize the state’s interest and leverage his expertise and connections to tackle insecurity in Benue. The appointment takes effect immediately, marking a significant step towards enhancing security in the state.
