The National Rescue Movement (NRM) in Edo State is jubilant after the Federal High Court in Abuja upheld the candidacy of Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie in the upcoming gubernatorial election.
Ambassador Isaac Chigozie Udeh (Awuruchukwu), the party’s National Chairman, attributed the victory to God, saying, “Please join me in celebrating God Almighty as Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie has emerged as our great Party’s Gubernatorial Candidate.”
Udeh exclaimed, “It is Victory! Victory!! Victory!!! in NRM. Glory be to God Almighty, who is first in our great Party NRM.”
He congratulated Dr. Aikoriogie, hailing him as the rightful candidate for the September 2024 Edo gubernatorial election.
The Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier dismissed a petition challenging the nomination of Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie as the National Rescue Movement’s (NRM) candidate for the 2024 Edo governorship election.
The case was instituted by Cosmos Odion Irabor challenging the authenticity of the primaries that produced Dr. Aikoriogie.
Justice Nwite of Court 9 ruled that the primary election that elected Dr. Aikoriogie as the NRM candidate was conducted in accordance with the party’s constitution.
This judgment resolves the leadership tussle within the party, which led to Dr. Aikoriogie’s exclusion from the list of candidates by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). With this ruling, the way is now clear for Dr. Aikoriogie’s inclusion on the ballot for the upcoming election.
The court’s ruling has affirmed Dr. Aikoriogie’s status as the NRM’s candidate, enabling the party to focus on the upcoming election with renewed momentum and enthusiasm.
