Dr. Godwin Kwanga, a former Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), has turned down his appointment as a member of the Governing Board of College of Education Katsina-Ala.
The Benue State Government had announced Dr. Kwanga’s appointment along with others in a statement issued on Monday. However, in a surprise move, Dr. Kwanga declined the appointment, citing lack of consultation.
In a press release, Dr. Kwanga stated, “I woke up today and saw a list circulating on social media. On the list, my name appears as a member of the Governing Board of College of Education Katsina-Ala. I was not consulted. If I were, I would have quietly declined. Since that was not done, I am declining on the same social media where I saw the news.”
Dr. Kwanga emphasized, “I wish to state very clearly that I have with all humility declined to serve. Thank you.” His decision has sparked interest in the state’s political circles, with many wondering about the reasons behind his rejection of the appointment.
