The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has condemned the recent smear campaigns and litigations against its gubernatorial candidate in Edo State, Dr. Asue Ighodalo, as “efforts in futility”. The party alleges that these attempts are orchestrated by “egocentric and overtly ambitious individuals” frustrated by Ighodalo’s popularity and impending victory in the September 21 election.
The PDP claims that these individuals have been attempting to manipulate the courts and media to discredit Ighodalo, but their schemes have been exposed and will not deter the party’s campaign. The party calls on the judiciary, media, and security agencies to resist these efforts and ensure the sustenance of democracy.
Despite these challenges, the PDP remains confident in Ighodalo’s candidacy and the support of the Edo State people, vowing to continue their issue-based campaign and secure victory in the upcoming election. The party urges the people of Edo State to remain vigilant and resolute in their support for Ighodalo and the PDP.
