Benue State Police Command has recorded a major success in the fight against banditry as two suspected bandits were killed in a gun battle in Katsina-Ala Local Government Area of the state.
According to the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, Catherine Anene, the operation was carried out by men of Operation Zenda who invaded the hideout of the bandits located at Tse Uza, Mbatyula Council Ward in Katsina-Ala LGA.
Anene explained that the bandits resisted the invasion into their camp and engaged the police in a gun duel but were eventually overpowered by the superior firepower of the police team. Two of the bandits sustained gunshot injuries and were confirmed dead by a doctor, with their corpses deposited at General Hospital, Ukum.
Several exhibits were recovered from the bandit camp, including two loaded pistols, three locally made short guns, thirteen motorcycles, camouflage uniforms, six walkie-talkies, one Toyota Corolla, and one tricycle. The police are currently on the lookout for the other suspects who managed to escape during the operation.
