A Superintendent of Police, Ibrahim Sini has revealed how he rejected a N150m bribe from businessman Akintoye Akindele, who was later arraigned and remanded in Kuje correctional centre.
Sini said while he was leading the investigation team was offered the bribe to let Akindele escape abroad and write a favourable report.
At an event honouring him, Sini said, “I am very happy to be here, They have beat my imagination, and they have added more grease to my elbow.”
He recalled the incident, saying:
“The person in question asked me, ‘Do you want to be rich?’ I would like to have money so that I can lay my head down and sleep at night. I don’t want to have something that will make me think twice and be running from one hole to another.”
Sini advised youths to prioritize integrity, saying, “Integrity counts, it’s possible to be in the midst of challenges and still stand to be different. Nigeria is our country, and Nigeria shall be great.”
He was awarded a plot of land in Abuja, with Commissioner of Police Benneth Igweh praising his conduct as exemplary.
The event organiser, Chukwuemeka Okoye, said Sini’s actions demonstrate the importance of integrity and uphold ethical standards, inspiring others to follow suit.
