A kidnapping gang’s luck ran out in Otukpo, Benue South Senatorial District, when a victim identified them on a public bus.
The accused boarded a vehicle from Otukpo to Makurdi, unaware their victim was on board.
The victim raised the alarm, holding one suspect while two others fled but were caught by sympathizers. A bag containing N11 million, part of a ransom, was found.
It was gathered that the sum was counted at the police station.
An angry mob nearly lynched the suspects, but security forces intervened.
The three suspects were taken to the Benue State Police Command headquarters, where more victims identified them.
The police are investigating to identify additional victims with a view to charging the suspects to court soon.
The gang’s capture was a result of their careless mistake of boarding a bus with one of their victims, leading to their identification and apprehension.
The police said they are working to build a strong case against the suspects to ensure justice for their victims.
