Suspected bandits launched a deadly attack on Kakangi ward in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, killing four vigilantes and a Mobile Police Force (MPF) officer.
The bandits also abducted several villagers near a farm in the Sabon Layi area.
Yahaya Musa Dan Salio, a member of the Kaduna State House of Assembly, while confirming the incident, said:
“Yes, among the victims were local vigilantes and one other killed by the bandits on Sunday.”
He added, “When we received the information that bandits attacked people on their farms, the divisional police officer and the hunters posted in the area mobilised and repelled the attack. In the process, three local vigilantes and a mobile policeman were killed. While several bandits were also neutralised and others escaped with bullet wounds.”
