The Association of Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) has urged for a unified four-year tenure for elected local government officials across the country.
National President, Alhaji Aminu Muazu-Maifata, made the call in an interview in Lafia, stressing that it would ensure good governance and quality representation at the grassroots level.
He appealed to the National Assembly to amend the constitution to unify the tenure, noting that the current varying tenure lengths, including one or two years in some states, hinder effective delivery of campaign promises and good governance.
