Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed concern over Nigeria’s uncontrolled population growth, stating that it has become a pressing issue.
Buhari however commended the increase in Nigerians engaging in farming to improve food production and reduce prices.
The immediate past Nigeria’s president while speaking after Eid prayers in Daura, emphasized the need for greater awareness and investment in education and health.
“There is a need for greater discussion and awareness about this problem, as well as a need to invest more in education and health”, he said.
He urged citizens to prioritize self-reliance, saying, “Let us grow our own food. We have shown that we can do it.” Buhari also encouraged the youth to learn about the country’s founding fathers and notable personalities, and to play an active role in nation-building.
He reiterated his concern about population growth, stating, “It will bring a lot of problems to future generations.”
He used the opportunity to wish all Nigerians a Happy Sallah and encouraged them to support one another.
