In a scathing letter to President Bola Tinubu, Chief Edwin Clark, leader of the Ijaw Nation, has alleged that former President Muhammadu Buhari deliberately marginalized the Igbos from the South-Eastern part of Nigeria, excluding them from key appointments and allocations. Clark cited several examples, including the constitution of the NNPC Board, which had no representation from the South-East despite the region’s oil-producing states. He also pointed out the lopsided allocation of a $22.7 billion loan, with the South-East receiving less than 1%, and the exclusion of Igbos from security chief appointments.
Clark accused Buhari of violating his oath of office and the constitutional requirement for balanced economic development. The letter highlights the perceived marginalization of the South-East region during Buhari’s presidency, sparking calls for greater inclusivity and representation in the current administration.
