President Bola Tinubu has directed the Minister of Finance, Wale Edun, to submit the cost implications of a new minimum wage within two days. This directive was given at a meeting with the government negotiation team, led by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja.
According to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, the President met with representatives of the Federal Government involved in the minimum wage negotiation with labor unions. The meeting aimed to review all issues related to the new minimum wage.
Idris stated that the President instructed the Minister of Finance to provide the cost implications of the new minimum wage by tomorrow, enabling the government to proceed with negotiations with labor unions. The meeting was attended by various ministers, including the Minister of Budget Planning, Minister of Labour, and the GMD of NNPCL.
