The Labour Party has called on the Federal Government and Organised Labour to resume negotiations and reach a reasonable offer for the benefit of Nigerian workers. This appeal comes as the Federal Government invites labour leaders for talks through the National Salaries, Wages and Income Commission. Monday’s nationwide strike significantly impacted commercial activities, with government parastatals, schools, banks, and businesses shut down.
In a statement, Labour Party’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, expressed concern that the masses will bear the brunt of the industrial action. He urged the Federal Government to demonstrate a willingness to compromise, enabling Labour to trust them enough to return to the negotiating table.
The party’s appeal seeks a swift resolution to the impasse, addressing the welfare of Nigerian workers and mitigating the strike’s impact on the nation.
