The Benue State Government has given Nigerian Brewery a 90-day ultimatum to resume production at its plant in Makurdi, as part of efforts to revive the state’s industrial sector. Dr. Raymond Asemakaha, Managing Director of the Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC), delivered the ultimatum during a meeting with Nigerian Brewery representatives.
The state government is eager to see companies operating in Benue return to full production, leveraging the state’s abundant raw materials and readily available workforce. Dr. Asemakaha highlighted the introduction of a one-stop shop for ease of doing business and tax holidays to incentivize investors.
Nigerian Brewery’s Corporate Affairs Manager, Joy Egolum, acknowledged the state’s efforts and expressed willingness to consider the incentives. However, she noted challenges associated with immediate resumption of operations, including time-consuming routine maintenance.
The ultimatum underscores the Benue State Government’s commitment to economic development and job creation for its citizens. The government aims to create a more business-friendly environment, encouraging companies like Nigerian Brewery to resume production and contribute to the state’s industrial growth.
