The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, received Afrobeat star David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, during a courtesy visit on Monday. Akpabio expressed his delight at the visit and showered encomiums on Davido for making Nigeria proud with his outstanding performances.
Akpabio told Davido, “You have made us very proud within the International Community.” He also commended Davido’s philanthropic efforts, particularly his foundation, which offers assistance to orphanages. The Senate President pledged support for the entertainment industry, saying, “We will do everything possible to support the entertainment industry.”
Akpabio charged Davido and his colleagues to continue maintaining high ethics and resist peer influence that could derail them. He emphasized the importance of patience, prayers, and hard work to succeed in the industry. Akpabio also cautioned against allowing politics to distract from their craft, saying, “Don’t allow anybody to drag you into politics. Continue to do your best in the entertainment industry.”
Davido informed the Senate President about his upcoming album, set to be released in June or July. The visit was also attended by Davido’s cousins, Tunji Adeleke and Folasade Adeleke, among others. The meeting demonstrated the government’s commitment to supporting the entertainment industry and recognizing the contributions of talented individuals like Davido.
