Religious Tensions Rise in Ilorin as Group Evicts Worshippers for Cross-Faith Prayers

The group reportedly disrupted the ongoing service and forcefully evicted the worshippers, claiming that they were defiling the mosque by allowing Christians to pray there.

The incident has sparked outrage and condemnation from various religious and community leaders in Ilorin, with many expressing concerns over the rising tension between different religious groups in the area.

The Emir of Ilorin, Dr. Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, has since distanced himself from the actions of the group, stating that he did not give any directive for the worshippers to be evicted.

Authorities in Kwara State have promised to investigate the incident and ensure that the worship centre is reopened for both Christian and Islamic services.

Residents of Ilorin have been urged to remain calm and avoid any actions that could further escalate religious tensions in the area.
