Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully neutralized some terrorists and thwarted the activities of violent extremists in the Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State. The operation, which targeted the terrorists’ stronghold in Basurfe village, resulted in the destruction of their administrative refuge and the seizure of weapons and medical supplies.
According to a statement released by the Nigerian Army, the troops were met with an ambush as they approached the village, but they fought their way through, forcing the insurgents to scatter. Two terrorists were neutralized while attempting to escape on motorbikes, and two AK-47 rifles, three magazines, and a motorbike were captured.
The troops also discovered the insurgents’ medical centre, where wounded terrorists were being treated, and seized a semi-automatic pump-action rifle, 16 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, an improvised explosive device (IED), two Baofeng communication radio sets, and a bag containing medical supplies, tobacco, hand gloves, and face masks.
This operation demonstrates the troops’ commitment to combating terrorism and restoring peace and stability in Kaduna State and the nation at large.
