Court Blasts Yahaya Bello for Attempting to Frustrate Criminal Case

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has strongly rebuked the immediate past Governor of Kogi State, Yahaya Bello, for attempting to disrupt the criminal case initiated against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

In a ruling delivered by Justice Emeka Nwite on Friday, the court reaffirmed its earlier order issued on April 17, directing security agencies to arrest and produce Bello before the court to face the 19-count charge pending against him.

The court’s stern warning comes after Bello’s legal team attempted to challenge the court’s jurisdiction and stall the proceedings. Justice Nwite emphasized that the court will not tolerate any further delays or attempts to undermine the judicial process.

The EFCC had filed a 19-count charge against Bello, alleging various financial crimes, including money laundering and fraud. The court’s ruling paves the way for the case to proceed, and Bello is now required to appear before the court to answer to the charges.
