The Nigerian Army is cracking down on misconduct within its ranks with the dismissal of a soldier, Abdullahi Ismail, for having sex with a colleague’s wife. Ismail was found guilty of indecent professional misconduct at 231 Battalion in Biu, Borno State.
Sources within the army revealed that Ismail had a history of sexual indiscipline before his dismissal, and his actions were a clear violation of military regulations. The soldier’s dismissal serves as a warning to others involved in similar acts within the barracks.
The offence committed by Ismail falls under Sections 79 and 93 of the Armed Forces Act, which could lead to a jail term and dismissal from service with dishonour. The army is sending a strong message that such behaviour will not be tolerated among its ranks.
This incident comes just days after two soldiers were dismissed for stealing armoured cables from the Dangote Refinery in Lagos. The army is taking a firm stance against misconduct and ensuring that discipline is maintained within its ranks.
