Minister of Works, David Umahi, assured that the Landmark Beach Resort property will be spared from demolition amid the construction of the 700-kilometer coastal road project linking Lagos State with Calabar.
Umahi during an interview on Arise TV emphasized that no jobs would be lost due to the project and clarified that the shoreline and recreational facilities would remain intact, as the project corridor has been reduced by 50 meters.
He said that the ownership of the shoreline falls under the jurisdiction of the Federal Government according to the Waterways Act and recent Supreme Court judgment.
Umahi also disclosed that the coastal highway construction, which began in March, would utilize concrete pavement and noted the progress made by Hitech Construction Company Ltd. in completing 1.3 kilometers of filling for the project.
