Prof James Ayatse, HRM Tor Tiv IV
The Tiv Area Traditional Council (TATC) has frowned at the publication which went contrary to the resolutions of the reconciliatory meeting initiated by HRM, the Tor Tiv, Professor James Iorzua Ortese Ayatse and was held at the Tor Tiv palace behind close door.
A statement by the Special Assistant to the Tor Tiv on Media and ICT, Freddie Adamgbe disclosed that the Tor Tiv, HRM Majesty Orcivirigh Prof James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse and the entire Tiv Area Traditional Council (TATC) was saddened at some of his subjects that have constituted themselves into peddling falsehood and creating mischief over the recent successful reconciliation in his Palace in Gboko attended by graded Chiefs of Tiv nation.
According to the statement, the reconciliation, mediated by the Tor Tiv between the Executive Governor of Benue State Hyacinth Alia and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume did not outlay or spell any terms and conditions around appointments or reshufflement or dissolution of caretaker committees and other fictitious imaginations of the author. The writer clearly is sadly a nuisance and an anathema to the aspirations of the TATC and the entire Tiv land.
“If not for mischief making or lack of knowledge, the author would have researched and discovered that a communique by the Secretary of TATC Shinyi Typzua was issued on the same day and published in many dailies and radio stations as well as international media organizations.
“The author in his wildly guessed statements credited to Governor Alia and SGF Akume alleged that Governor Hyacinth Alia requested for the removal of the Minister of Water Resources and Environment, Hon Joseph Utsev and the Executive Secretary of Shippers Council, Pius Akuta Esq while Sen George Akume on his part pressed for the dissolution of Governor Alia’s Cabinet and Caretaker Chairmen of the twenty three local government councils to accommodate his loyalists are totally false, misrepresenting and misleading and should therefore be totally disregarded.
“There were absolutely no threats, no name calling or any terms and conditions except the resolve by the two sons of Tiv nation to work together for the greater prosperity of the Tiv nation and Benue as a whole.
According to the statement, such a high level close door meeting has become a pasture ground for churning lies and making a mockery of the revered royal intervention is undermining and an assault on the Tor.Tiv and TATC. This is strongly condemned and totally disdained.
The Palace, the statement continued, takes strong exceptions to young people seeking to promote ill by indulging in commentaries from figment of imagination on closed door Palace discourse.
“His Royal Majesty,, Begha u Tiv on behalf of Tiv Area Traditional Council consequently seeks a retraction and apology immediately from the author of the article that put up that publication, Engineer Paul Terhemen with immediate effect.
“The apology must be made in writing before 7th April 2024, and fully published in the same media. Both evidence of publishing and physical letter of apology must reach the Palace by 7th April 2024.”
The paramount ruler who expressed displeasure however cautioned his subjects and their fans to desist from further misrepresentations and heating up issues around the reconciliation meeting forthwith.
