In a statement released by the Senate President’s office, the decision to postpone the resumption date was made in order to allow senators more time to observe the holidays with their families and constituencies.
The statement further explained that the postponement was also to ensure that senators have enough time to review pending legislative matters and prepare for the resumption of plenary sessions.
The Senate President urged all senators to use this extra week to rest, recharge, and come back ready to tackle the important issues facing the country.
The postponement of the resumption date will not affect any scheduled committee meetings or other legislative activities during the break.
The Senate President expressed confidence that with the extra time for preparation, senators will be able to engage in robust debates and discussions that will lead to meaningful legislative outcomes for the benefit of all Nigerians.
The new resumption date of April 23, 2024, will see the Senate reconvene and continue its work in representing the interests of the Nigerian people.
