NDLEA officials have apprehended Chidinma Chinenye Agbazue, aged 35, at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
According to Femi Babafemi, NDLEA Director, Media & Advocacy, Chinenye was caught red-handed while attempting to export 20 parcels of cannabis sativa, totaling 10.70 kilograms, cleverly concealed within African salad (Abacha) and dried vegetables destined for Doha, Qatar.
This interception occurred during routine passenger screening at Terminal 11, with cooperation between NDLEA officers and the Department of State Security.
Upon interrogation, Chidinma admitted that she had been staying at Club Dice Hotel in Ikotun, Lagos, where she was handed the illegal cargo prior to her departure to Qatar.
Furthermore, NDLEA operatives also arrested two other suspects, Monday Okeke and Chigozie Emeka, in separate raids conducted in Oniwaya, Yaba, and Agege areas of Lagos.
During these arrests, the authorities seized a significant quantity of opioids, particularly tramadol, as well as 15 liters of codeine syrup and 596 grams of Molly.
Notably, when Okeke attempted to bribe the NDLEA officers with N5 million in cash, they firmly rejected the offer and documented the money as evidence for the prosecution of the suspects in court.
