“We want to make it clear that as Ijaw people, we have never consented to be part of Biafra and we do not support any plan to attack military formations or personnel in our territory. We call on the IPOB to desist from dragging the Ijaw nation into their activities and allow the relevant authorities to carry out their investigations.
“We urge the security agencies to be on high alert and ensure the safety of all citizens in Delta and Bayelsa States. We also call on the IPOB to find peaceful and lawful ways to address their grievances rather than resorting to violence and threats.
“We will continue to monitor the situation closely and work towards ensuring peace and security in our communities,” Prof Okaba added.
The INC also called on the Federal Government to take urgent steps to address the issues surrounding the alleged killings in Okuama and Igbomotoru communities and ensure that justice is served to the victims and their families.
