There was jubilation at Takum Junction, Katsina-Ala, headquarters of Katsina-Ala Local Government Area on Wednesday, 27th March, following the decimation of notorious bandits from the area, The Sun can report.
Men of Operation Zenda, following weeks of trail were engaged by bandits, believed to be remnants of the “killed” dreaded gang leader, Terwase Akwaza a.k.a Ghana, during which two were killed. One of the bandits was said to be arrested during the operation.
The Sun understood, men of Operation Zenda, a Joint Task Force in the Nigeria Police, Benue State Command headed by Superintendent of Police (SP) Felix Arumun Nomiyugh, bursted the bandits’ hideout at De-Mtsa, Michihe Council Ward of Katsina-Ala LGA, in the early hours of Wednesday. The gang is said to have been terrorising areas around Abaji, Tor Donga and other adjoining villages in the local area.
SP Nomiyugh, had on assumption of command of the task force, warned that no criminal operating in Benue State will be spared. He however declined comments on the incidence, when contacted.
Katsina-Ala and Ukum LGAs have particularly, been under the pangs bandits for over a decade now and in spite joint security operations in the area, respite is yet to be restored.
