At least two worshippers lost their lives when bandits opened fire during Friday prayers at Anguwar Makera in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna State, around 2 pm.
A community leader, Hudu Kwasakwasa while confirming the incident, stated that the attackers targeted the Juma’at Mosque and abducted others.
“The two worshipers killed were among other Muslims attacked at the Juma’at Mosque in Angwar Makera when the bandits opened fire on them and abducted others today (Friday). The victims have been buried at Old Kuyello cemetery,” he said.
Kwasakwasa revealed that the assailants struck during the second raka’at of the salat, forcing remaining worshipers to flee.
He highlighted a recent abduction by the same bandits in Angwar Kanawa and appealed for authorities’ intervention, expressing concern over unchecked raids.
This incident occurred shortly after the abduction of 287 students in the nearby Chikun Local Government Area, with no official response from the State Government or Police Command at the time.
