Fighting back tears, Dangote recounted how Wigwe had been a source of encouragement throughout his business endeavors, portraying him as a visionary role model with unparalleled courage.

“I am proud to call him my devoted friend, mentee, and supporter. I will forever cherish the warmth of his friendship,” said Dangote, announcing plans to immortalize the late banker by naming the road to the Dangote Refinery as Herbert Wigwe Road.

The President of the AfDB,Adesina Akinwunmi, echoed the sentiment stating that Herbert Wigwe had brought pride to Nigeria and Africa, describing him as relentless, determined, visionary, and inspiring, with an exceptional drive for excellence. “Everything he touched became gold,” Akinwunmi added.
