Operatives of the Taraba Police command in a strategic alliance with local hunters, has successfully apprehended a total of 10 individuals suspected of engaging in kidnapping activities.
This operation unfolded in Yorro Local Government Area, where a total of 40 kidnap victims were rescued from the clutches of their captors.
The collaborative effort between law enforcement and community-based hunters was particularly instrumental in navigating the challenging terrain around Gongomaliki mountain, which served as the criminals’ concealed hideouts.
During the decisive raid, security operatives managed to neutralize some of the kidnappers, underscoring the significance of joint efforts in tackling criminal elements.
The State police commissioner, David Iloyanomon, shared distressing details regarding the conditions of the rescued individuals.
“We deployed another strategy of using the local hunters and vigilantes, who dislodged them, neutralised some and rescued 40 victims, while police operatives at strategic locations arrested 10 suspects, who were fleeing the mountain,” NAN quoted him as saying.
One victim had suffered the gruesome act of having an eye plucked out by the kidnappers, while another bore the scars of a gunshot injury.
These harrowing experiences highlight the severity of the threats citizens face and emphasize the urgent need for robust measures to ensure their safety.
The victims, now free from captivity, have been promptly transported to the police clinic in Jalingo, the state capital, for comprehensive medical attention.
