President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, is set to lead a presidential delegation to the state funeral of the late president of Namibia, Hage Geingob, on Saturday. This comes after President Bola Tinubu appointed Akpabio as special envoy and leader of the Nigerian delegation to the event.

The memorial service and burial services for Geingob will be held at Independence Stadium on February 24 and Heroes’ Acre, Windhoek, on February 25. Akpabio’s Special Adviser on Media, Eseme Eyiboh, conveyed that the purpose of the trip is to demonstrate Nigeria’s solidarity with Namibia’s government and people, as well as convey Nigeria’s leader’s condolences and sincere regards to the country.

Accompanying Akpabio in the delegation are Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs, Zephaniah Jisalo, and Special Adviser to the President on Political Affairs, Ya’u Shehu Darazo. This delegation highlights the importance of maintaining strong diplomatic relations with Namibia during this time of mourning.
