The Benue State House of Assembly has taken decisive action by sacking and replacing three local government caretaker chairmen due to their alleged misconduct and embezzlement of funds. The decision came after a comprehensive investigation into their activities, which uncovered significant misconduct and abuse of office.
During a session at the Assembly, Speaker Honorable Aondona Dajoh read out a letter containing the names of the chairmen who were removed from their positions and announced their replacements. The Assembly overwhelmingly supported the decision to dismiss the chairmen and mandated them to immediately hand over their duties to their deputies.
The ousted chairmen are Hon. Tervershima Abraham Agber of Gboko local government, Rev. Pastor Gideon Haanongon of Ukum local government, and Hon. Francis Zazan of Katsina Ala local government. They have been succeeded by Hon. Verlumun Avar, Hon. Victor Iorzaa, and Hon. Justin Shaku, respectively.
In a separate development, the Assembly welcomed students from Vandeikya Comprehensive College who were visiting on an educational trip. The students presented Speaker Honorable Aondona Dajoh with an award of excellence in acknowledgment of his leadership and commitment to serving the people of Benue State.
By holding local government officials accountable for their actions, the Benue State House of Assembly has sent a clear message that misconduct and corruption will not be tolerated within the state’s administrative ranks.
