Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite Unveils Initiatives to Boost Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) and Access to Capital

The Ministerial Press Briefing Series (MPBS) saw the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Doris Uzoka-Anite, present ongoing initiatives aimed at boosting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and improving access to capital for women and youth entrepreneurs. The event, hosted by the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, at the National Press Center in Abuja, demonstrated the government’s commitment to transparency and informed governance.

Dr. Uzoka-Anite highlighted the implementation of the N75 Billion National Youth Investment Fund and the N200 Billion National MSMEs Survival Fund as key strategies to support and empower young and small business owners in Nigeria. The focus on reducing barriers to business operations was emphasized, with the Minister detailing efforts to simplify regulatory processes, digitize business registration, and streamline trade procedures, all of which are set to facilitate and encourage entrepreneurship in the country.

In response to inquiries from journalists, Dr. Uzoka-Anite addressed concerns regarding the economic impact caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Minister assured the government’s continued focus on stimulating growth and safeguarding businesses and jobs, providing reassurance to the public amid ongoing challenges posed by the global health crisis.

The Ministerial Press Briefing Series has been commended for its role in strengthening dialogue between the government and the media. The renewed commitment to transparency through open communication further demonstrates the government’s dedication to informed governance and public accountability, signaling a positive step for the future of Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
