In a recent interview with ABC’s Good Morning America show, Prince Harry spoke publicly for the first time about his father King Charles’s illness and how it prompted him to immediately fly to London to be with him.
The prince, who is currently in Canada with his wife Meghan, described how he heard about his father’s cancer diagnosis directly from Charles and wasted no time in rushing to his side.
“I love my family,” Harry said, expressing gratitude for the brief time he was able to spend with his father last week.
When asked if King Charles’s illness could bring the family back together, Harry replied, “Yeah, I’m sure.” He also referenced the strength of the family unit that he witnesses on a day-to-day basis through the work he does organizing the Invictus Games for injured military veterans.
While Harry did not disclose details about his father’s health, he did mention his plans to visit the UK in the future and stop to see his family as much as he can, despite living in California with Meghan and their two young children.
Prince Harry’s comments have led to speculation about a potential reconciliation within the British royal family, as they continue to navigate the aftermath of Harry and Meghan’s decision to step back from their royal duties in 2020.
