DOA2024

In 2023, I was part of the Obidient movement, a grassroots campaign effort that supported Mr. Peter Obi during the Presidential Election. Our dedication and hard work led us to carry out door-to-door campaigns, engaging with voters and spreading awareness about Mr. Obi’s policies and vision.

Following the success of our campaign, I found myself inspired to pursue a bigger role in politics. I decided to vie for the office of the Governor in the upcoming 2024 governorship election. My experience with the Obidient movement had given me a taste of the power of grassroots organization and campaign, and I believed that I could make a difference in the governance of Edo state.

During this period, I also played a significant role in the growth of the Labour party in Edo state.

Our efforts were fruitful, as we began to witness a wave of defections from other political parties to the Labour party. This sudden influx of new members raised alarm bells, but we were reassured that it was a positive sign of our party’s popularity and progress.

However, recent developments within the Labour party have caused my team and me to re-evaluate our political affiliations.

It became evident that some individuals with ulterior motives had infiltrated the party, throwing money around and engaging in questionable practices.

These individuals were buying cars for party executives and even offering them monthly salaries. These actions raised concerns about the party’s integrity and our ability to maintain our original vision and principles.

As a result, my team and I have made the difficult decision to defect from the Labour party. We believe it is necessary to distance ourselves from the corrupt influences and protect the integrity of our political endeavours.

I will soon be unveiling my new political party, one that aligns with our original values and goals.

These developments have confirmed the importance of our collective involvement in politics. It shows that in order to create meaningful change and maintain the party’s integrity, we must stay vigilant, engaged, and ready to take action when necessary.

Dr. Dennis Osahon Aikoriogie, a gubernatorial aspirant in Edo state, recently highlighted these concerns during a TopTalk weekly interaction program on Kaftan TV. By sharing these insights, we hope to raise awareness of the challenges we face in the political landscape and encourage others to actively participate in shaping our democratic processes.
