A 43-year-old man identified as Abubakar Musa, has been arrested by the Police in Yobe State for the alleged murder of his wife, Ammi Mamman, in Damaturu.
Yobe State Police Spokesman, Dungus Abdulkarim, in a statement said the incident occurred at New Bra-Bra Estate at about 4:48 am on Thursday, January 4, 2024.
According to Abdulkarim, Musa was in the same bed as the wife when she was stabbed with an object on her neck, leading to heavy bleeding that led to her death.
He said the suspect was being interrogated by police detectives to unravel the circumstances surrounding the death.
He said the matter was reported at the C Divisional Police Headquarters, Damaturu, and it’s currently being interrogated by the CID and homicide unit of the command.
A resident of the area told newsmen that Musa after committing the crime, rushed to call his neighbour for assistance.
“After he committed the crime, he rushed to tell his neighbour that his wife was bleeding. So, they got an ambulance and conveyed her to the hospital, where she was confirmed dead,” he said.
